I have many 8" by 10" metal plates that I've etched and I often return to them when working on a new image. I can take pieces and parts of the etched images by using masks or chine colle. Just adding transparency to the oil based etching ink allows images from the past to show through. Nothing is gone forever. Now, I have started to layer with fabric.
